A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye that affects vision. Most cataracts are related to aging. It is the damage to eye lens which actually functions like a camera lens and the protein is been adjusted in such a way that it keeps the lens clear and lets light pass through it. But due to aging or some other reason the protein may clump, blurring the vision due to reduction of light reaching the retina.
Pathology in diabetic patients-Due to high blood sugar 4 biochemical pathways lead to tissue damage which are Cell tight junctions fail, permeability increases, cells swell, there is leukocyte infiltration, and then tissues become short of oxygen. The angiotensin 2, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), and prostaglandin pathways all lead to tissue damage and leakage. At this point retinal function gets reduced, white blood cells get stuck to capillary blood vessel walls, and the capillaries get blocked which causes more shortage of oxygen. This causes more damage.
It is also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids having its two dimensions i.e. eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) and docosapentaenoic acid (DHA). The human body cannot produce this fatty acid substance but it is essential for vision as it is important for proper drainage of intraocular fluid from the eye, decreasing the risk of high eye pressure and glaucoma.
It is useful as it prevents macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome. Its role in the prevention of dry eye has been widely known. It shields the skin from damage as it provides eicosanoids to the epidermis and hence is also important for the structural integrity of the skin. It also helps to prevent UV-induced photodamage, extrinsic signs of skin aging, and inflammatory skin responses.
They are the carotenoids obtained from natural sources. Mainly they are the part of eye lens and retina so are very important in maintaining eye health.
Use of lycopene as well as lutein suppresses typical UVB induced activity of enzyme ornithine decarboxylase, an important initiating and rate-controlling factor involved in stabilizing DNA structure in the nucleus of the skin cells. Lycopene's ability to enhance connectivity and communication between cells can noticeably improve your skin's texture by aiding cellular functions that are essential to keeping your skin looking young.
Methylcobalamin:
It is the form of Vitamin B12 and possesses strong neuroprotective and antiaging properties. It gives energy support to the body functions and improves immunity. For its property of reducing the stress factors, indirectly it gives support to overall functioning and shielding the body from diseases.
